New Years- Want or Must

It’s that time of year, the time when most people have began to make a promise to themselves to do something good or avoid something bad, it’s time for New Years resolutions. New Years resolutions are both good and bad. The good is it consciously makes you aware of something you would like to change in your life, something that will enhance your well being . The bad is most people cant stay committed to the resolution for longer than a few days!
According to multiple statistics the most popular New Years resolution is to lose weight but a close second is making more money. However, as mentioned above the reasons resolutions fail is because our resolutions have become wants not musts. So what is the difference? A want is a personal choice and is a person’s solution to a problem. A must is a moral choice that implies that no other outcome is acceptable. Sure we want a killer bod and a fat bank account but for most people there is no immediate danger to their livelihood if these goals are not achieved and achieved quickly. Example, there is a major difference to your mindset if a doctor tells you that you MUST lose 10 pounds this month or you will die vs you WANTING to lose 10 pounds so your pants fit better.
I cant help you with the weight part but I certainly can help you in the money department. I know many of you out there WANT to become professional traders. You WANT an unlimited source of income. You WANT the luxury and freedom to work and live life on your terms. You WANT to be your own boss. You WANT it all but have you said to yourself “I MUST have it all and I MUST have it now”
I was in the same position 10 years ago. My want to be a professional trader was huge. Trading was my dream. I studied and I worked long hours but I had a nice sized brokerage account to start with.
