Tonight’s watchlist is a special one because it will be my last one for the rest of this week. Tomorrow night I will be leaving on my annual “into the wild” yearly adventure. Almost every year I find a secluded part of the globe, hike into obscurity and isolate myself from the outside world for 3 to 4 days. I know that is some extreme stuff because when most people want to get away they just take a vacation somewhere to a nice hotel or resort etc. I tried that before but I’m so obsessed with technology and the Internet that I can’t stay off of it. Every time I go to a hotel I log online, I check my twitter account. I look at my emails and the next thing you know I’m working, even when I know I’m not supposed to. So the only way I could rid myself of this was to bury myself in the woods without any technology and I would have no choice. As I said I know this is extreme and to a point ridiculous but that’s the drum I march too. It really does help to clear out the mind and realign your focus.
Last year I spent four days in Mount Whitney California and that was quite an experience. I did a post on it here Even though was in the summer the high elevation of Mount Whitney still produced some chilly weather and high winds. This year I will be going to the Los Padres national Forest. There have only been six mountain lion attacks in that area over the last 20 years so I should be safe 🙂 So this will be my presidential suite and my life’s belongings for four days.
Tent, sleeping bag,water and a bottle of scotch. Top campers would recommend these items for survival
I won’t have any communication devices with me and I will be totally off the grid so if you email me I won’t be able to respond until July 5 or sixth.
