Meet Biscuit
What a great story! An abandoned house was being destroyed in East San Diego . During the clean up the crew found this little kitten in the rubble all dirty, battered and apparently dead. However, after closer inspection the kitten somehow was still alive. The kitten was then taken to my vet to perhaps be put down but being the nice, caring animal lover my vet is he decided to try and save her. Amazingly she survived the ordeal but during later medical tests it was discovered that this kitten was not only abused and left for dead she was also poisoned and suffered from some neurological damage.
Because she was such a fighter my vet named her biscuit (after Seabiscuit the horse).The irony in all of this is that all my members and people around me know what a big Seabiscuit fan I am. I think that is one of the most motivational and inspirational films I have ever seen. Anyway, my vet has been working the angle on me to take this kitten. He knows my soft side and is good at what he does. lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if I leaked out my Seabiscuit obsession in some past conversation with him and he purposely named her that. Crafty and clever.
The reason for this is Biscuit is not a top candidate for adoption because she can not jump, her front leg shakes and she often falls down while she runs. She will need someone who will look out after her. I guess since I have probably spent $50,000 for medical care on my cats with this vet in the last 2 years I seem like a logical choice. It’s a tough call for me as I just lost my cat Taz in December of over 20 years and I still have two very old cats left , an 18 year old and a 19 year old. On one hand I have had my share of animals. I can not tolerate the pain of losing them and I know I have 2 more cat passings to go but on the other hand when you hear a true inspirational story like biscuits and you know you can help that is a priceless feeling that no amount of money can come close to. Even for non animal lovers this is an amazing story.
