I haven’t watched a Basketball game in 15 years. I couldn’t name 5 NBA Players and honestly I find the sport dull, but that’s just my opinion. However, not even I can escape the indefatigable hype machine of LeBron James. I’m trying to figure out why a guy who has not achieved the highest level of success in his own sport ( a Championship) could warrant 1 hour worth of prime time coverage of where he decides to play Basketball next year. What I do find interesting is that he will be announcing his decision in Greenwich CT. That way when he gets his 100 trillion dollar check he can give it to a greasy Hedge Fund Manager who will invest all of his money in AAPL!
People just can’t help themselves when it comes to hype. I know some people will take off work to cling to their televisions in anticipation of this generational event. There will be thousands of Labron James announcing parties, jubilant and disappointed drunks, a plethora of fist fights, rioting and one seriously rich Baller. I’m sure he is a great player but it’s not like he is the owner of a Chinese Biotech company that has a speculative Leukemia drug in Phase 2 trials….. As Flava Flav once said ” Don’t believe the hype”
